Macrite Joins Anthropic's Claude for Startups Program
Macrite has joined Anthropic's Claude for Startups program. What it means for how a solo founder builds Macrite, and why nothing changes for your data.
Another small update I'm happy to share: Macrite has joined Claude for Startups, Anthropic's program for early-stage startups building with AI.
A few weeks ago I shared that Macrite joined the Google for Startups Cloud Program. This one helps in a different way, and I want to explain how.
A Different Kind of Help
Google's program supports the cloud that keeps Macrite running. Anthropic's program supports something else: how Macrite gets built.
Macrite is bootstrapped and built by one person. The iPhone app, the Android app on the way, the servers behind them, three languages, and the site you're reading right now. That's a lot of ground for one founder, and the tools I work with decide how much of it I can cover well.
What It Unlocks
Being part of the program gives Macrite:
- Claude for the work behind the app.A year of Claude Team, for thinking through architecture, reviewing changes and working through hard problems faster.
- API credits.Room to prototype new ideas and find out quickly which ones are worth building.
- Office hours with Anthropic's Applied AI team.Live sessions on architecture, evaluation and cost.
- Startup events and community.A chance to learn from other founders building with AI.
How I Use It
Claude is part of my toolkit, not a replacement for judgment. I decide what Macrite should do, design how it feels, and test every change on real phones before it ships.
What changes is speed. I can explore a few ways to solve a problem in an afternoon, compare them properly, and pick the one that's actually right for you, instead of the first one that works. For a solo founder, having a sharp colleague to think out loud with, at any hour, makes a real difference.
One founder, building with the care of a team.
What It Means for You
Nothing changes in how you use Macrite, or in how your data is handled. Joining the program doesn't change how your meals are analyzed or which AI providers process them. Macrite still picks the right model for each job, on your phone or in the cloud.
Your personal details stay yours: they're never sold or shared with advertisers, and your name, email and account are never shared with AI providers.

What's Next
Android is getting close. The scan screen is getting smarter, with more of it running right on your phone. And I'm working on better ways to plan your meals around the day you're actually having.
Thank You
Thanks to everyone using Macrite and sending feedback. Many of the improvements in the app started as one of your messages.
If you haven't tried Macrite yet, now's a good time to give it a go.
