Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Macrite.

What is Macrite?

Macrite is an AI nutrition companion that does a lot more than count calories. You can snap a photo of your food, scan a barcode, read a nutrition label, use voice, or type it in, and Macrite breaks down the full nutritional picture: calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber, and sodium. But where it really stands out is what happens next. Macrite looks at what you've eaten so far, what's left in your budget, and what you're working toward, and proactively tells you what to eat next. It can scan a restaurant menu and recommend what to order. It knows what's in your pantry and suggests recipes you can actually make. It gives you smart swap suggestions on meals you've already logged, showing you a better alternative with the exact calorie and protein difference. And it wraps up your week with an AI-generated recap of how you did and where to improve. Whether you're trying to lose weight, build muscle, or just eat better without overthinking it, Macrite handles the strategy so you can focus on your food.

How do I log my meals?

There are a bunch of ways. The fastest is to open the camera and take a photo of your plate. Macrite's AI identifies everything and estimates the nutrition in seconds. You can also scan a barcode on packaged food, scan a nutrition label, describe what you ate using voice, type it in manually, or search your meal history to quickly re-log something you've had before. You pick whatever feels natural in the moment.

What's the Menu Scanner?

When you're at a restaurant, you can take a photo of the menu and Macrite reads the entire thing. It identifies every dish, then recommends what to order based on how many calories and macros you have left for the day. You swipe through the recommendations like cards and each one shows you exactly how it fits into your remaining budget. It's basically a personal nutritionist sitting next to you at dinner.

What does the Pantry feature do?

You can add ingredients you have at home, either by typing them in, picking from a list, or pointing your camera at your fridge or kitchen and letting the AI figure out what's there. Once your pantry is set up, Macrite generates recipe ideas based on what you actually have, complete with nutrition info, cooking instructions, and how well each recipe matches your ingredients. It's great for those 'what should I cook tonight' moments.

How does Macrite help me decide what to eat next?

Based on what you've eaten today, your remaining calorie and macro budget, your dietary preferences, and your cuisine tastes, Macrite suggests meals you could have next. These aren't generic suggestions either, they're personalized to your goals and what you like to eat. If you have pantry items saved, it'll factor those in too and suggest things you can cook right now. You also get a daily briefing with coaching tips and nudges throughout the day.

What are Smart Swaps?

After you log a meal, Mac (the mascot) might pop up with a suggestion. It shows you what you had, crosses it out, and suggests a smarter swap along with a short explanation of why it's a better fit for your goals. It's not about being perfect, it's about small improvements that add up over time.

How accurate is the photo scanning?

We use the latest and most advanced vision AI available. It doesn't just look at what's on the plate, it reasons about how the food was likely prepared, including cooking oils, sauces, and seasonings. It handles a huge range of foods really well, from home-cooked meals and restaurant plates to street food and packaged items. If something still looks off, you can tap into any scan result and adjust it yourself, or give feedback and the AI will reanalyze it with your corrections.

What do I get with Macrite Pro?

Macrite uses a trial model so you can try everything out first. After that, Macrite Pro keeps all the features unlocked: AI photo scanning, barcode and label scanning, voice and text entry, menu scanner, smart meal swaps, pantry-based recipe ideas, hydration tracking, AI weekly recaps, and priority support. You can upgrade anytime from inside the app.

How does the progress and streak tracking work?

Macrite shows your calorie and macro trends over time with charts you can view by week, two weeks, month, three months, or six months. There's also weight tracking with trend analysis and BMI. You earn XP every time you log a meal, level up over time, and collect achievement badges for streaks (3, 7, 14, 30 days) and total meals logged (1, 10, 50, 100). You also get an AI-generated weekly recap that summarizes what went well, what needs work, and how you compared to the week before.

Can I track my water intake?

Yes. There's a hydration card on the main screen where you can tap to add glasses of water throughout the day. You can customize the cup size and how many cups you're aiming for in the hydration settings.

Does Macrite handle dietary restrictions and allergies?

Yes. In Settings you can set your dietary preferences (like vegetarian, vegan, keto, etc.), pick your favorite cuisines, and list any ingredients you want to avoid or are allergic to. All of this gets factored into the AI's meal suggestions, menu recommendations, and pantry recipe ideas so it only recommends things that work for you.

Can I export my nutrition data?

Yes. You can generate a nutrition report covering any time range from 7 days up to a full year. It includes your calorie trends, goal comparisons, weight progress, meal breakdown, and any flags the system noticed.

How do I change my calorie or macro goals?

Head into Settings and tap on Nutrition Goals. You can set your own daily targets for calories, protein, carbs, and fat from there.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are handled through the App Store. On your iPhone, go to Settings, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and find Macrite there. You can cancel or change your plan from that screen.

I switched phones. How do I get my Pro subscription back?

Just open Macrite, go to Settings, scroll down to Macrite Pro, and tap Restore Purchases. It'll pick up your subscription right away, no extra charge.

Is my data private?
